NY Comic Con 2011: The Friday Plan!

So, NY Comic Con kicked off this evening already, but I only purchased the 3-day pass that will get me in starting tomorrow. I’m excited, despite this being my third time out at the Big Apple’s Big Comic Convention.

NY Comic Con 2011

I think, with the overwhelming number of panels and screenings that are available to attend at one of these big gatherings, it’s important to have at least a rudimentary plan before heading in. If nothing else, you need to figure on what time you have to show up to catch the most important thing on your list. So, here are some of the interesting things for me to check off for Friday at the con:

“Once Upon a Time” Exclusive Screening and Panel
10:30 am – 11:30 am
Location: American Airlines Theater, 1A06
Speakers: Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, Erin Felentzer, Matt Mitovich
I noticed a handful of Fables knock-offs this year for the teevee, so I’m curious as to see how well they pull those shows off. Plus, I’m not interested in putting together a portfolio in the next handful of hours for a DC Talent Search, going over Star Wars blueprints, or a panel about an MTV production called “Good Vibes”.

Felicia Day Spotlight
12:15 pm – 1:15 pm
Location: American Airlines Theater, 1A06
Speaker: Felicia Day
She’s everyone’s favorite geek sweetheart. Leader of The Guild, Dr. Horrible’s heart’s desire, a kick-ass video-game elf, and a Joss Whedon favorite. Felicia Day!

Hardest working woman in the Web Series Biz!

The Venture Bros
4:15 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: IGN Theater
Speakers: Doc Hammer, Jackson Publick
Quite possibly my favorite animated show. Filled with references, parodies, and homages to almost every single pop culture thing I ever cherished from childhood to adulthood. I saw Hammer and Publick the last time they were at NY Comic Con, and they were so entertaining, my little, rat brain has decided to push the button again for another fix.

Strung Out Jonny

Strung out older version of Jonny "Quest" ... 'nuff said.

Robot Chicken
5:15 pm – 6:00 pm
Location: IGN Theater
Speakers: Doug Goldstein, Matthew Seinrich, Seth Green, Zeb Wells
See Venture Bros. description above. Change some names.

After that it’s a choice between seeing Mark Hamill, a panel about Star Wars: The Old Republic, or maybe the IGN Podcast Beyond live podcast.

Of course, all of this could be pointless if “conditions on the ground” change. I’ll post pics. No personal cosplay, sorry.
